The benefit: the user can extend which columns are searched, making it possible to use simple search on custom columns. I am considering changing CC to allow the user to add other fields to the simple search field list? This would make CC more like calibre, where in calibre Search preferences a user can enter a list of column lookup names that are searched when using non-prefixed names. The simple search is much (!) faster than the full search because it can use the database instead of looping through the books one by one to evaluate the expression. simple search: one that uses search terms without a lookup name prefix, where the search is limited to the fields title sort, series, authors, and tags.full search: one that uses close to the full expression capability of calibre (e.g., authors:foo and series:bar).I have a Samsung Android TS2.ĬC Android supports 2 kinds of searching: I also noticed that the last set of books I downloaded are locked and DRM'd which they shouldn't have been since I have Apprentice Alf's plug in, which makes me wonder if it's an update problem (the last update being the problem). Is it possible a newer update from Calibre made it go wonky on me? I wish I worked in an IT department because I'm at a loss right now - and frustrated. and they are as they should be - that hasn't changed. Checked all the Wi-Fi and Firewall settings, etc. I'm to the point that want to delete Calibre Companion and start from scratch but not sure how I could since I can't connect. ![]() Then I discovered that I have several books in my CC companion database with missing files - and they're books that I've recently read. ![]() ![]() So I thought perhaps I could transfer the new books via USB, which they did transfer, but they don't go in the CC companion database. It doesn't even work if I try to connect using a fixed port. I wanted to sync a few new books to my CC and discovered I cannot connect as a wireless device anymore. I've been stumped and need answers from the pros. I really tired of how difficult and long-winded this is.Īny suggestions would be gratefully received. They opened fine, until i rebooted the tablet and they have joined the missing list again. Search for Books with Missing files, and yup there's thousands of them again.ĪS a final test i connected via WIFI and sent 200 of the missing books back. I deleted the dead books from CC, and connected to Calibre with the content server option.ģ days later i had sent the final book with this method. ![]() However when searching for Books With Missing Files in CC it returned 6988 covers with no files. It trundled along at an excruciating pace with Device disconnections every 5 or 10 minutes.Īfter 5 days i was relieved to have sent the final book. In CC i connected via WIFI, and sent fairly small groups of books to the device in Calibre. I configured the template for the best performance. I changed the path for the books to the correct Calibre folder on the SDCard. I made the foolhardy decision to upgrade the SDCard in my Samsung Galaxy S10.5 (KitKit 4.4) from 64Gb to 128Gb. However with a book collection of 14k+ the syncing of the two is slow and fraught with too many device disconnections to mention. Calibre Companion when it works is also great.
